Just released: Springboard to Active Schools resources to integrate physical activity into classrooms

Springboard to Active Schools, a collaborative initiative between HRiA, the National Network of Public Health Institutes, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has developed a set of new resources for educators to help integrate physical activity into the classroom. These resources will help schools use evidence-based strategies to incorporate classroom physical activity and provide more opportunities during the school day for students to reach the nationally-recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day.

Schools can use these resources in the following ways:

  • Use to identify the 10 evidence-based strategies for planning and providing classroom physical activity.
  • Use the to assess your ability to adopt, promote, enhance, and sustain strategies identified in Strategies for Classroom Physical Activity in Schools.
  • Use the to search for best practices and practical ideas for implementing each strategy identified in Strategies for Classroom Physical Activity in Schools.
  • Use the to better understand the status of classroom physical activity in the United States, national guidance for classroom physical activity, and practical resources available to implement classroom physical activity.
  • Use the to share ideas with parents on how they can promote classroom physical activity in their child鈥檚 school.
  • Use the PowerPoint presentation to explain the benefits and importance of classroom physical activity, as well as the resources available from CDC and Springboard to Active Schools.
